Ribbon-Cutting Held For Lexington Fisher House

Ribbon-Cutting Held For Lexington Fisher House

A day nearly six years in the making happened on Friday, March 24, 2023, with the ribbon-cutting for the new $9 million Lexington Fisher House.  Flanked by supporters and donors, Fisher House Foundation President David Coker cut the ribbon following a ceremony that was moved indoors due to inclement weather.  Following the ribbon-cutting, those in attendance toured the 13,400 square foot house which features 16 private suites and a common kitchen dining and living area.  The interior decorations are equine-themed and beautifully appointed.  The house is warm and inviting.  The estimated savings to families in lodging and transportation is $600,000.  An estimated 5,840 lodging days will be offered annually.  Upon its completion, the house was gifted to the VA by the Fisher House Foundation at no cost.  The Lexington VA Health Care System now owns and operates the house on the Franklin R. Sousley Campus at 2250 Leestown Road.  Our sincere thanks to all of the corporate partners, businesses, and individuals who support this mission.  Those interested in volunteering at the house should contact Patrick Sinclair with VA voluntary service:  patrick.sinclair@va.gov
