16 Oct Oneida Family Raising Money And Awareness For Lexington Fisher House
For the Robinson Family of Oneida, Kentucky, raising money and awareness for the Lexington Fisher House is personal. The family knows first-hand the difference the house makes in the lives of veterans and their families who are receiving treatment in the Lexington VA Health Care System. Jason Robinson is a veteran who stays at the house with his family when he comes to the VA’s Franklin R. Sousley Campus for cancer treatments. The more than two-hour drive is especially tiring and long when you’re fighting cancer and feeling some of the harsh side-effects of treatment. The Lexington Fisher House serves as a home-away-from-home for the Robinson’s, allowing family members to be at Jason’s side during his courageous fight. The family doesn’t have to worry about where they’ll stay, eat and how they’ll pay for it. Like every guest at the house, the family never receives a bill and never will. Jason Robinson served in Iraq with the Kentucky National Guard. While serving in Iraq, the truck Jason was in hit an IED. He survived the blast, but injured his knee. He was also exposed to burn pits in Iraq, which eventually affected his lungs. He began chemotherapy treatments in July of this year. Despite his pain and suffering, he never complains and is eternally optimistic, just like all of his family. He continues to work at Oneida Baptist Institute, which is where he met his wife, Krystle, who anchors a tremendous family support system. The Robinson’s have been so touched by the love and support they have received at the Lexington Fisher House, they’re giving back by raising money and awareness by setting up information tables are events in southeastern Kentucky. The photo that accompanies this story shows the Robinson’s information table at the Shaping Clay Jubilee in Manchester, Kentucky, held October 6-7, 2023. It is our foundation’s honor to serve and support Jason Robinson and his family and we thank them for unselfishly giving back.
