07 May Leadership Change For Friends of Lexington Fisher House
Tom Kenny, who helped establish the Friends of Lexington Fisher House nonprofit foundation nearly eight years ago to raise money to build the $9 million Lexington Fisher House, retired as the foundation’s president, chairman and secretary following the group’s board meeting on May 6, 2024. The board unanimously approved Tyler White to replace Kenny as president, chairman and secretary, effective immediately. Tyler White had a distinguished career in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2004-12, retiring with the rank of sergeant. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his Master’s Degree from Harvard University. He is a past president of the Kentucky Coal Association, and was the district director of the veteran outreach program in Congressman Andy Barr’s office in central Kentucky. He has shown a genuine passion to serve his fellow veterans since retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps. He’s looking forward to continuing that service by leading the 501(c)(3) foundation that supports the Lexington Fisher House, where veterans and their families eat and stay for free while the veteran is treated in the Lexington VA Health Care System. Kenny said helping establish the nonprofit foundation, raising awareness and money to build the Lexington Fisher House and overseeing its opening and successful operation, is the highest honor of his community service life. Presiding over his last board meeting as president and chairman, Kenny thanked all the past and present board members for their support, trust and service. He thanked all the donors who made the project possible and expressed his excitement for the limitless potential for the foundation to continue to flourish and grow under the leadership of President White.
